Claudia Guzman is a Latinx immigrant, born in Bolivia, South America, and migrated to the United States in 2002. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in human services from City College of New York. Since then, Claudia has developed a strong interest in discrimination, sexism, and women’s studies. Claudia was drawn to fight for Social Justice, helping individuals make strides toward equality through encouragement, self-empowerment, and resources.

Claudia holds a master’s degree in social work from Hunter College, Silberman School of Social Work. Claudia has experience working with community-based organizations for 14+ years, providing services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Queens.

In 2020 Claudia became the Program Manager at the Queens Program, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, she successfully transitioned her team to a fully remote work model during COVID and then to implementing our current hybrid work model. Working remotely and transitioning to a hybrid work model brought many challenges, Claudia analyzes, strategizes, and implements innovative strategies to confront these challenges. Claudia has dedicated her career to addressing issues of oppression and discrimination in our Latinx Community. She has successfully led initiatives that have transformed the lives of vulnerable populations and empowered communities through outreach, education, and support.

Claudia has recently been promoted to the Director of Community Programs at VIP. In this new position, Claudia is responsible for the oversight of the Community programs in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx.
