Community Programs

Healing Begins Here.

VIP operates three community-based programs in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, offering a broad spectrum of services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and their children. We provide ongoing safety planning, comprehensive case management and advocacy, and psycho-educational counseling to support survivor self-determination.

Our services include:

  • Individual Counseling: We deliver individual psycho-educational and crisis counseling, coupled with ongoing safety planning for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our counselor/advocates are trained to support survivors on their recovery journey from various forms of intimate partner violence, including sexual, emotional, technological, and economic abuse. Our staff are fully bilingual in English andSpanish, and reflect the rich national, ethnic, and racial diversity of the communities we support.

  • Support and Educational Workshops: We provide trauma-informed support groups and psycho-educational workshops focused on understanding the impact of domestic violence and forming healing connections with other survivors.

  • Case Management and Advocacy: Our counselor advocates work with survivors to assess their economic, housing, legal and emotional needs. We create a plan with each survivor tailored to help them achieve stability and move forward after violence. Individualized plans could include assistance applying for or retaining benefits (housing, SNAPs, Medicaid, public/cash assistance, etc.), referrals for legal assistance and court accompaniment, coordinating mental health services (including with other VIP programs described ) and much more.

  • Emergency Assistance: Wherever possible, VIP offers emergency assistance in the form of food vouchers at local supermarkets, and emergency cash assistance for urgent needs.

If calling is inconvenient, please leave us your information and the best time to contact you, and we will reach out as soon as possible. Our hours of operation are 9 AM-11 PM, Monday through Friday. If this is an emergency, call 911.
